Kaizer Chiefs are guaranteed R9.5 million in prize money for reaching the quarter-finals of the CAF Champions League.
The Glamour Boys reached the Last 8 of the continental tournament against all odds, suffering a single defeat in the 10 matches they have played so far this season.
Now, even without kicking a ball in the quarter-finals, there is R9.5 million waiting for the Soweto giants – irrespective of how they play against their soon-to-be-known opponents.
According to CAF Champions League prize money list, the semi-finalists will receive R12.7 million.
The two teams that will be playing in the CAF Champions League final are guaranteed R18.2 million.
However, there can only be one winner, and the champions at the end of it all, will walk away with R36.5 million.
Of course, Chiefs may have spent more than just R9.5 million to reach the quarter-finals, especially with all the travels and compulsory Covid-19 tests each time they have to play in the CAF Champions League.
But they can be proud of themselves for securing millions of Rands from the CAF Champions League, and this will undoubtedly serve as motivation for the Glamour Boys going forward.
