Kaizer Chiefs have achieved what they set out to do in their final CAF Champions League clash in Group C against their Guinean hosts Horoya AC at the General Lansana Conte Stadium on Saturday.
Horoya took the lead in first-half injury time to go into the break 1-0 ahead thanks to striker Yakhouba Barry.
In the 67th-minute Kaizer Chiefs got the equaliser from the penalty spot thanks to Daniel Cardoso, but Amakhosi’s hearts sunk two minutes later when Horoya regained the lead through Sekou Camara.
However, cometh the hour, cometh Khama Billiat and the Zimbabwean leveled matters in the 76th minute.
Amakhosi held on for the 2-2 draw which saw them progress to the CAF Champions League quarter-finals as group runners-up.
Wydad Athletic Club topped the group on 13 points after beating Petro de Luanda 2-0 in their final match.
Kaizer Chiefs finished second on nine points, ahead of third-placed Horoya on away goals scored. Petro de Luanda brought up the rear with a single point.
