Bredasdorp police discover skeletal remains of unknown teen

The police in the Western Cape are turning to members of the public for help with solving the mystery surrounding the discovery of human remains in Bredasdorp at the end of 2021.

SKELETON DISCOVERED IN BREDASDORP

South African Police Service (SAPS) spokesperson in the Western Cape Captain FC van Wyk said Bredasdorp police officers responded to a complaint on Thursday, 30 December 2021.

“Upon arrival at the scene, they found, what is believed to be human remains,” said van Wyk. The incident took place near Otterbaai, which is close to Waenhuiskrans.

The police’s forensics team were summoned to the scene next and ultimately took control of the investigation.

Forensics confirmed that the remains were human. The skeleton is believed to belong to a man estimated to be aged between 16 and 18.

The police spokesperson said the body of the deceased was buried in Bredasdorp approximately one year ago.

“Anyone with information of any missing person is urged to call the Investigating officer Warrant Officer Lionel October on 079-894-0033 or alternatively call Crime Stop on 08600 10111,” said van Wyk.
