The Kaizer Chiefs and Sipho Mbule transfer saga seems like it set to come to an end very soon, according to the latest reports.
Chiefs are now said to be making major head way in talks with SuperSport United for the services of Mbule.
Chiefs and Sundowns have been going toe to toe
The previous transfer window was dominated by transfer speculation linking Mbule with a big money move away from SuperSport. The lead in terms of securing his signature kept exchanging hands between Chiefs and Mamelodi Sundowns, with almost every new report. SuperSport had also made very little secret of their wish to sell the player abroad, instead of any of their two local rivals.
In the end, all of those reports proved to be futile as Mbule stayed put at SuperSport, as he said he would in one of his Instagram stories during that time. Even though both Matsatsantsa CEO Stan Matthews as well as Mbule’s representatives have always maintained their preference to sell the player overseas, that has not stopped the midfielder from deciding who he would prefer to sign for between Chiefs and Sundowns.
Amakhosi offer confirmed by players agent
Previous reports had indicated that Mbule was leaning towards a move to Chiefs, as he would be afforded more opportunity for game time, than Sundowns. The very next week his agent Mike Makaab confirmed on Gagasi FM that his player was indeed of interest to Chiefs, before going on further to claim that he has already received an official offer from the Glamour Boys for the services of the former South African junior international.
Mbule and SuperSport were set for crunch talks
The next update came on Tuesday where The South African News website reported that, this was set to be a crucial week for both Chiefs and Sundowns. This is because Mbule and SuperSport are believed to be due to have crunch talks regarding his future. Now the latest update could indicate that those talks had already taken place, with both SuperSport and Mbule offering the Chiefs management encouragement for a transfer.
Glamour Boys and Matsatsantsa in final stages of negotiations
Now according to the freshest report coming on Wednesday morning, Chiefs are believed to be in the final stages of clinching a deal with SuperSport for Mbule during this current January transfer window! Now it might seem like it had come from nowhere, but when you look at all the other prior updates, one would notice a steady build up.
This would be seen as a major coup should Chiefs finalise this deal and get Mbule to Naturena in January. It also looks like they have a clear path to him, with Sundowns preparing to announce the arrival of Teboho Mokoena. How do you think SuperSport will cope with losing both of their key midfielders in one window?
