BREAKING: Kaizer Chiefs release experienced trio!

Kaizer Chiefs have made the decision to release three experienced stars in Keagan Dolly, Sifiso Hlanti and Siyethemba Sithebe!

All of Dolly, Hlanti and Sithebe were the subjects of uncertain futures at Chiefs ahead of next season.

Now according to SABC Sport, Chiefs have decided to part ways with all three players.

Chiefs release Dolly, Hlanti and Sithebe

“SABC Sport can confirm Sifiso Hlanti, Keagan Dolly and Siyethemba Sithebe will be all leaving Kaizer Chiefs at the end of the week following a decision by the club not to retain their services ahead of the new season. According to information received by the public broadcaster, the Amakhosi hierarchy were waiting on the incoming technical team to make a call on several of the out of contract players at Naturena. Hlanti, Dolly and Sithebe being among them have since been informed that Chiefs are going in a different direction and are now giving them permission to speak to other clubs.” Wrote the publication.

Dolly was believed to have found himself in a similar position to Khama Billiat at Chiefs. This in the sense of being offered a new contract on reduced terms. It has never been confirmed though, if that is indeed the case. Hlanti is a player who joined Chiefs in 2021/22 season and notched up 62 appearance for the club. The player was a devise figure among the fan base but largely unpopular. Sithebe joined Chiefs under an air of controversy, having signed a pre-contract in January from AmaZulu.

What’s next?

Sithebe, was the one who looked the likeliest to stay, out of the trio. The dreadlocked-midfielder was a regular in the second half of the season under interim coach Cavin Johnson. His brother and agent had even confirmed that Chiefs have offered him a new two-year extension to his contract.

It now remains to be seen when Chiefs will announce the departures of Dolly, Hlanti and Sithebe. It would also be interesting to see what is next for the trio.
