BREAKING: Bok star tests positive for Covid

In a statement released on Tuesday, Ulster Rugby confirm that the Bok No 8 will not immediately be able to join up with the senior men’s squad following his arrival in Belfast.

Vermeulen said to be doing well

“As a result of testing positive for COVID-19 prior to entering the professional squad bubble, Vermeulen will not train with the team this week. He will continue to be monitored medically and is currently well,” a statement read.

“The Public Health Agency has been contacted, and it is expected that he will integrate into the squad over the course of next week.”

This follows on from last weekend’s Barbarians match against Samoa having to be cancelled after multiple players tested positive in the build-up, with Vermeulen having formed part of that invitational squad.
