Great Strikers International, a professional promotion Boxing Company, has launched the 4th event dubbed UBC International Championship fight between Uganda’s “Killing Machine” Shafik Kiwanuka and Olivier McCall from the United States of America.

The official launch of third biggest event in the Heavyweight category in Africa took place on Monday at Green Lounge in muyenga.

This will be Kiwanuka’s 4th fight in the paying ranks after his previous victories against David Kamara (Kenya), Thamsang Dube (Zimbabwe), and Tyson Mbikayi (Democratic Republic of Congo).

Kiwanuka last showed up in the ring last year in November against Zimbabwean Thamsang Dube in a 10-round contest victory at International University of East Africa’s auditorium.

“I thank my chairman from Great Strikers International and my promoter who have staged this fight. It’s been a while since I last appeared in a ring but I want to confirm to everyone that I’m ready to rumble and will overcome my opponent with ease.” Kiwanuka said.

On Friday, 29th May 2020, Kiwanuka was destined for another heavyweight contest against Egyptian Abdallah Sammy before the fight was cancelled following the global Covid-19 pandemic outbreak.

Great Strikers International Chairman, Sam Buchanan however, expects to confirm another opponent and the new date for the fight which didn’t happen.

“Great Strikers International is building something big for this nation and we are trying to bring boxing back to its top. Shafik Kiwanuka has been outstanding in his previous exhibition fights and we believe he will be turned into a great boxer who will raise this country’s flag high,” Buchanan said.

The fight will be the third biggest event in the heavyweight category staged on the continent after Muhammad Ali (USA) against George Foreman (USA) that took place in Zaire in 1974 Africa and Lonex Lewis (Great Britain) against South Africa’s Nassim Rahama.

Before the main bout, there will be curtain rising under-cards from Sebulime Abdul Aziz, Ratib Muwonge, and others.

The launch was also graced by the acting Deputy Defense Attache Nicholaus L. Heath Sr who represented the American embassy.
