Borno State Governor, Professor Babagana Umara Zulum, has commended the Nigerian Military for their swift response to the recent devastating floods in the state, stating that their intervention prevented further loss of life.
The governor’s comments came during a meeting with the Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Gwabin Musa, at the Government House in Maiduguri.
Zulum expressed his heartfelt appreciation to the military, led by General Musa, for their rescue efforts and sympathy towards the state. He highlighted that without the military’s support, the situation would have been dire, and more lives would have been lost.
The governor also took the opportunity to update General Musa on the state’s security situation, noting that insecurity has decreased by over 90% and that “peace is gradually returning to Borno.” Additionally, Zulum conveyed his deepest gratitude to President Bola Tinubu, thanking the military for their efforts during this critical period.
This visit from General Musa follows the recent flooding that displaced many villagers and affected women and children in Borno State. The military’s prompt response has been instrumental in mitigating the effects of the disaster.
