Back in September, it was confirmed that Du Toit had agreed to make a big-money move from the Stormers to Verblitz. The Aichi-based rugby union club also acquired All Black Patrick Tuipulotu for the season from January to May.
Du Toit, the 2019 World Rugby Player of the Year, underwent surgery for a shoulder injury sustained in the second Test against the British & Irish Lions at the end of July.
The 29-year-old has regularly had to fight back from injuries during his career, and his latest return will be highly anticipated after being named to start at flank for his Japanese club.
Upon signing for Verblitz, Du Toit said he was looking forward to a new adventure
“It is a privilege to be part of [the team] and I hope to justify the faith put in me by giving my very best on and off the field,” Du Toit said in a statement.
