BlueCrest University Awards Scholarships to 30 Liberian Students Ahead of 2022/2023 Academic Year
MONROVIA – The BlueCrest University College has awarded scholarships to 30 Liberian students to study Information Technology (IT) and Business at the school.
The students were selected after they scored the required marks in an aptitude test administered by the school. There were selected among the total of 74 applicants who sat the exams.
Out of the 30 slots, the six best performing students were awarded 100 percent scholarship, 10 got 50 percent, and 14 were given 25 percent. They will benefit throughout the course of their undergraduate studies for the next four years, the school said.
“Once you have been given the scholarship, you will be a part of the school for the next four years without stressing about grades mark,” said Abhishek Tiwari, the head of Marketing at BlueCrest.
The scholarship program which is named and titled, ‘Let’s Make Liberia Great (LMLG), was launched by the institution last January. During the launch, the school announced that 30 students from 12th grade who made a successful passed in the West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) or equivalent international board to enroll at the BlueCrest University for the academic year 2022. Officials said the initiative is part of the institution’s effort to support the Government of Liberia’s Pro Poor Agenda for Prosperity and Development (PAPD).
During the presentation of the beneficiaries on Saturday, Mr. Tiwari said the scholarship is part of the school’s corporate social responsibility.
“The essence of the scholarship is to contribute to the development of Liberia through education and also part of BlueCrest’s corporate social responsibility to the government and people of Liberia,” he said.
He revealed that the aptitude test will be given every year to Liberians who have graduated from high school and passed in at least five WASSCE subjects.
Also speaking, the dux of the exam, Joram Morris, lauded the school for the opportunity and, on behalf of his colleagues, promised to live up to the expectation of the institution and their parents. Morris said he was excited to win a full scholarship at one of Liberia’s best learning institution. He explained that he saw the information on the school’s website and immediately decided to give a try.
“I saw the opportunity on the school website and took advantage of it and happy to be among the six students who have won 100 percent scholarship to attend BlueCrest University for the next four years”.
