Black tax or simply giving thanks? Big Zulu rebuilds gogo’s home! [photos]

South African rapper Siyabonga Nene aka Big Zulu has just inspired thousands of his fans after he headed online to share that he is in the process of rebuilding his granny’s house. Taking to Instagram, the artist shared snaps of the small house before the renovations started.

Big Zulu wows Mzansi by rebuilding his gogo’s home

Over the last few years, many South African celebs have made it their personal mission to give back to their parents and those who raised them. Last year, TV presenter Ntando Duma wowed her many fans when she shared a snap of the home she was building for her mom.

Speaking to News24, the actress, 25, said that it had always been a dream of hers. It seems that local artist Big Zulu had the exact same dream – only he had it for his grandma, the woman who raised him into the successful man he is.

Taking to his Instagram page on 8 February this year, Big Zulu shared before and after photos of the KwaZulu-Natal, Bergville home that is currently undergoing construction.

“Nkabi Nation just because I said I would rebuild Gogo’s house where I was born no but here’s the work going onit’s ready,” he captioned the post in his home language, Zulu.

Mzansi loves to see it!

The post was well-received by his fans who shared a ton of congratulatory messages and well wishes with him. A lot of them praised him for taking care of his grandma.

Naturally, many people also brought up black tax – one thing that many South Africans are accustomed to. Many argued however, that there is a fine line between being guilt-tripped into taking care of your elders and giving thanks to them for raising you.
