Benue NAFEST contingent leaves for Jos

THE Benue State contingent for the National Festival of Arts and Culture (NAFEST), on Sunday morning left Makurdi in Benue State for Jos in Plateau State, where the one-week long event has been scheduled to take place from November 21 to 28.

The opening ceremony comes up at the Jos Township Stadium on Monday at 10 am.

Addressing participants shortly before departure at the Aminu Isah Kontagora Arts Theatre, the Director of the Benue State Council for Arts and Culture, Mrs. Monica Shanyo, enjoined participants to put in their best to win laurels for the state.

She said the exemplary performance and good conduct of the artistes during the festival would ginger Governor Samuel Ortom, who approved funds for participation despite scarce resources, to invest more in the arts and culture sub sector.

Shanyo said the contingent would participate in competitive and non- competitive events, including the opening ceremony, Ayo, indigenous coral rendition, visual arts exhibition, children’s arts and crafts, indigenous fabrics, essay writing, cultural quiz, traditional cuisine and roundtable in entrepreneurship.
