Baroka FC Chairman says Kekana links are nothing but rumours

Baroka FC Chairman Kurishi Mphahlele says his club have no deal to sign former Mamelodi Sundowns skipper Hlompho Kekana.

Mphahlele insists that Baroka are looking to invest in youth and give young players first team opportunities.

Baroka not in for Kekana

He did say that if something came up where Kekana was available, he would welcome the Limpopo legend with open arms.

The player himself intimated he would be unveiled by a new club before the end of the January transfer window, when speaking on his release.

“Hlompho Kekana is still a soccer player and has not retired. I have to sign with a PSL team very soon. This is the first time I’m a free agent,” said Kekana.

“I have a team and they will make an announcement very soon,” he added.

Kekana has been a free agent since his departure from Kabo Yellow on 11 November 2021 after ten years at the club. He joined Sundowns back in 2012 from Bloemfontein Celtic and helped the Brazilians win an incredible collection of silverware.
