Bafana Bafana have suffered a huge injury blow ahead of Wednesday’s Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) semi-final with Nigeria.

On Tuesday, Bafana Bafana coach Hugo Broos confirmed to journalists that Thapelo Maseko’s AFCON tournament is over with a hamstring injury.

Maseko pulled a hamstring when Bafana Bafana beat Cape Verde on penalties in the quarter-finals on Saturday night.

According to Broos, Maseko will not be replaced by any of the players who are on standby, meaning the left-footer will remain with the Bafana Bafana team until they return home.

BAFANA BAFANA REACH AFCON SEMIS FOR THE FIRST TIME SINCE 2000

Meanwhile, Bafana Bafana will be playing in the AFCON semifinals for the first time in 24 years.

The last time the South Africans reached the semifinals of AFCON was in 2000 under the tutelage of Trott Moloto.
