Bafana Bafana could play at least THREE international friendlies in March as talks with two African opponents are at an advanced stage.
Hugo Broos’ men have already secured a high-profile fixture with world champions France on 29 March, thanks to the efforts made by the South African Football Association (SAFA).
But before then, Bafana Bafana could face Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) bronze medalists Burkina Faso and Zambia.
Sunday World reports that SAFA CEO Tebogo Motlanthe confirmed talks with the two African countries for the March FIFA week.
BAFANA BAFANA SET FOR BUSY FIFA WEEK IN MARCH
During that week, the African continent will be watching with keen interest the five FIFA World Cup play-off fixtures.
Bafana Bafana will NOT take part in the play-off matches after failing to finish top of their qualifying group – Ghana topped the group and advanced.
The South Africans were denied that opportunity by a controversial refereeing penalty that saw them write to FIFA to complain about referee Miguette N’Diaye.
South Africa’s appeal was dismissed after it was deemed ‘inadmissible’ by FIFA, and SAFA has moved on from Bafana Bafana’s elimination from the FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
