Are these shows replacing ‘Umkhokha’ and ‘My Brother’s Keeper’?

Mzansi Magic has announced TV shows which may be replacing fan-favourites Umkhokha: The Curse and My Brother’s Keeper in 2025.

TVSA reports that The River spin-off, Cobrizi may be replacing Umkhokha: The Curse, while Genesis may likely replace My Brother’s Keeper.

Cobrizi which premieres in March 2025 in the 20h30 timeslot after Umkhokha ends on 28 February.

The other upcoming Mzansi Magic show, Genesis, which follows a battle for control of a gospel music empire in crisis starts in April 2025.

The publication adds that Genesis begins after My Brother’s Keeper in the same month.

The South African will reveal more information about the upcoming shows soon.

‘MY BROTHER’S KEEPER’ AND ‘UMKHOKHA: THE CURSE’ CANCELLED

Entertainment commentator Phil Mphela recently announced that both Umkhokha: The Curse and My Brother’s Keeper are ending.

Umkhokha: The Curse ending. The curtain looks set to fall on the popular Mzansi Magic telenovela when its current season ends. The show will end its current season in March 2025 and is yet to be renewed. Barring extenuating circumstances to keep it, the show is done,” writes Mphela.

“My Brother’s Keeper to be canned. The Rhythm World Productions produced telenovela will not be renewed for a third season,” says Mphela.

Zimoja reported that Umkhokha: The Curse actors Sphelele Luthuli who plays Nokubonga has left the show.

Other stars Kwanele Mthethwa, Angel Zuma and Msizi Njapha have also left the telenovela.

Mthethwa took over fan-favourite actress Kwezi Ndlovu’s character as Nobuntu in 2023.

Both telenovelas are produced by Rhythm World Productions and will not be renewed for the third season.
