Archibishop-elect Paul Ssemogerere who was recently selected to replace the late Cyprian Kizito Lwanga as the new Archibishop for Kampala Archdiocese will be installed on January 25th 2022, according to Rev. Fr. Pius Male Ssentumbwe, the Chancellor Kampala Archdiocese.
Fr. Ssentumbwe said the ceremony will be held at Lubaga Cathedral with a few invited guests and is expected to be officiated at by Cardinal Luigi Bianco, the Apostolic Nuncio to Uganda.
Before he was elected an Archibishop, Ssemogerere was in the acting capacity in the same position for eight months since April 2021up to December 9th 2021 when he was appointed as the new Archibishop.
Ssemogerere was born on 30th June, 1956 in Nkumba, Kampala Archdiocese.
He studied Primary School in Kigero (1964-1966) and Kisubi (1967–1971), Secondary School at Katende (1972-1976).
He attended the Major Seminary of Philosophy of Mbaaga, Kampala (1976-1978) and studied Theology at St. Francis, Milwaukee, U.S.A. (1978-1982) where he obtained a Master in Divinity.
He was ordained a priest on June 3, 1983, by Cardinal Emmanuel.
Prior to the death of Archibishop Kizito Lwanga, Ssemogerere was the Bishop of Kasana Luwero Diocese .
