Al Ahly head coach Pitso Mosimane was on Tuesday night presented with a symbolic gift by club president Mahmoud El Khatib.
The occasion took place at Al Ahly’s home Stadium where the club celebrated their 10th CAF Champions League title in style.
Former players and board members were present at the glittering ceremony where a number of gifts, including a No.10 Al Ahly jersey with a star above the number, were handed out.
Mosimane though was presented with a special gift; a club coin approved by the Central Bank of Egypt when Al Ahly celebrated their 100th year of existence in 2007.
Al Ahly is the first African club to have a coin approved by the Central Bank of Egypt in its name, and they offer it to individuals who achieve huge success with the club.
According to the information gathered by The South African, the coin is not traded in the market anywhere in the world, including in Egypt.
With this symbolic and significant gift from Al Ahly, Mosimane becomes the first South African coach to receive it.
