2021 was a rollercoaster of a year for podcaster Macgyver “MacG” Mukkwevho. Podcast and Chill with MacG hosted some of Mzansi’s biggest celebs and now, the podcaster is gearing up for another big year. The podcaster’s controversial show will make a return to YouTube on Monday 10 January.
A YEAR OF CONTROVERSIES
MacG and his co-host Sol Phenduka were the centre of a few controversies in 2021. In January last year, the pair landed in hot water after making harmful homophobic comments.
The podcast was dropped by Amstel Lager as a sponsor following the remarks but the controversy did not end there.
In November, Blood & Water actress Natasha Thahane caused quite the stir after her interview with MacG. While chatting to the controversial podcaster, she revealed that she received R1 million in funds from the government for her studies at the New York Film Academy. Thahane has since cleared the air on the matter but she left social media roaring.
More recently, former Uyajola 9/9 Jub Jub host made explosive claims about his ex-girlfriends Amanda Du Pont and Kelly Khumalo.
THE GOOD MOMENTS
Besides all the controversies, MacG celebrated a few wins in 2021. He reached over 400 000 subscribers with most of his interviews achieving over 500 000 views each.
The podcaster hosted the likes of former Mamelodi Sundowns footballer Teko Modise, veteran actor Sello Maake ka Ncube, DJ Fresh and Sonia Mbele.
His episode with Gomora actor Israel Zulu was on the top 10 most-watched YouTube shows of 2021. The video achieved over 1.8 million views.
