Africa’s biggest tournaments returns this weekend with Mamelodi Sundowns and AmaZulu in action the CAF Champions League.

The competition enters it’s second stage with the winners going on to the group stages. The first of two legs will be played this weekend with the second taking place a week later.

AMAZULU VS TP MAZEMBE

Benni McCarthy’s Usuthu go in search of history when they take on CAF Champions League veterans TP Mazembe on Friday at King Zwelithini Stadium.

Kick-off is at 17:00 SA Time.

Mazembe are currently in sixth position but don’t be fooled by this. They have only played two matches so far and have won both.

They are five time CAFCL winners for a reason. AmaZulu are the underdogs going into this match but this is a tag they have flourished under. They finished second in last season’s PSL after nobody gave them a chance.

McCarthy wants to lead his side to the group stages of Africa’s biggest competition. He will have to beat one of the best sides in Africa to do so!

AS MANIEMA UNION VS MAMELODI SUNDOWNS

Sundowns travel to the Democratic Republic of the Congo to take on AS Maniema Union on Sunday in Kindu.

The Congolese-based outfit is currently in sixth position in Ligue 1 with six points from 3 matches. They won their opening two games before losing their most recent match 2-1 against Vita Club on Sunday.

The Brazilians are in excellent form, winning their last 5 matches in a row! They sit on top of the PSL with 16 points from 6 matches.

Masandawana are heavily favoured to progress to the group stages of the CAF Champions League.
