SPRINGBOKS STAR ALMOST LOST HIS LIFE

Steven Kitshoff injury almost cost him his playing career.

However, not many people are aware of the fact that he almost lost his life. Thankfully, he survived.

“Today I know: I was two millimetres from a catastrophe, from my death,” Kitshoff stated on SARugbyMag.

“The first thing the specialist said to me was: ‘Listen, you’re lucky we didn’t bury you in a week.’ Because the vertebra that shifted is so close to my brain canal,” added.

Meanwhile, Kitshoff has emphasized only listening to him for personal updates pertaining to his injury, surgery and the future of his career.

This is a quote directly from the Bok veteran himself.

CAREER HANGS IN THE BALANCE

Following neck fusion surgery, speculation over Kitshoff career is rife.

So, many pundits feel that the nature of his injury makes for bad reading for Springboks fans.

Firstly, it is a very serious neck injury. Additionally, as a prop, there is constant strain and pressure on your neck at scrum time. Moreover, most players will retire after such an injury. Especially, after almost losing their lives.

However, Kitshoff is not done yet and is determined to make a comeback to the Stormers and the Springboks against all odds.
