Recent complaints from consumers regarding unexplained data cuts have led to widespread dissatisfaction aimed at both the LTA and two GSM operators in the country.
In response to these complaints, the LTA expressed concern over increasing discontent and announced plans for a meeting with mobile operators, consumer advocates, and other key stakeholders on Friday, December 13, to discuss and find immediate solutions to the issue.
On December 14, the LTA shared on Facebook that consultations were held with the National Association of Telecom Consumers (NATELCO) and Mobile Network Operators to address public concerns regarding telecommunications service pricing. As a result, the pricing adjustments will take effect on Saturday, December 14, 2024.
The LTA’s communication stated, ”As a result of these consultations, the LTA has authorized the Mobile Network Operators to begin providing promotional prices for consumers.”
Furthermore, “During this promotional period, the LTA will remain engaged with consumers and other interest groups and the Mobile Network Operators, to fully address public concerns over the price of data and other telecom services.”
