How much prize money Magesi FC won after winning the Carling Knockout Cup
Magesi FC lifted the Carling Knockout Cup for the first time in their history after edging Mamelodi Sundowns 2-1 in the final at the Toyota Stadium on Saturday evening.

The newly promoted Premier League outfit came from a goal behind to defeat the tournament’s favourite. It was a fairytale story for Magesi FC.
Mamelodi Sundowns dominated the first half, with Iqraam Rayners punishing Elvis Chipezeze in the 36th minute to give Masandawana an early lead.
Clinton Larsen’s lads came determined and levelled the score line in the 48th minute. Despite good command of the game, Mamelodi Sundowns failed to convert.
Magesi FC sealed the win with Delano Abrahams 87th minute winner after smashing in Edmore Chirambadare’s corner past Ronwen Williams.

Against the win, the media has since connected the dots on the prize money won by the newly promoted Magesi after winning the Carling Knockout Cup.
According to Afrik-Foot, the winner of the Carling Knockout will receive R6.85 million, and the runner-up will receive R2.85 million.
On the other hand, the semi-finalists will receive R1.35 million, the quarter-finalists will earn R850 000, and the teams knocked out in the last 16 will only gain R550 000.
Speaking to the media after failing to beat Magesi FC, Manqoba Mnqgith said Mamelodi Sundowns was unfortunate. He said, “I think we were just unfortunate. I think the universe has called it.”
He added, “Because we did everything to try and win the match, we dominated the game, we were in confrontation with their box, we had a lot of shots at goal, and many shots on target – Chipezeze did very well.”
With the win, Dikwena tsa Meetse became the 19th team to lift the cup. Kaizer Chiefs is by far the most successful side in the history of the Carling Cup, South Africa’s own version of the League Cup, with 13 victories.
ALL-STAR TEAM VOTING LINES STILL OPEN
Once again, this year’s winners of the Carling Knockout Cup – Magesi FC, will face a Carling All-Star team of players from the 15 other premier division clubs.
Voting is open as of 8 October and will run until 10 December. Champion fans can vote for their favourite players from all 16 PSL teams, even If they get eliminated from the Carling Knockout tournament.
