Highlife musician, Kofi Nti, has reached a settlement with American filmmaker Tyler Perry after Perry’s studio used Nti’s song, “Odo Nwom,” without permission.
The song, which Kofi Nti recorded with Ofori Amponsah, was featured in a behind-the-scenes video for Perry’s popular TV series Sistas, posted on social media in June 2024.
In an interview with Onua TV’s Nana Adwoa Annan, Kofi Nti confirmed that his UK-based lawyer contacted Tyler Perry’s team, leading to successful negotiations.
“Negotiations went well, and we resolved the matter with a financial settlement,” he said, without disclosing the specific amount.
Kofi Nti, a celebrated highlife artiste known for hits like ‘Rakia’ and ‘Bra’, expressed satisfaction with the outcome, noting that the issue has been put to rest.
