Ghana coach Otto Addo provides clarity on Black Stars captaincy
Otto AddoGhana’s Black Stars head coach, Otto Addo, has provided clarity on the team’s leadership structure ahead of the upcoming qualifiers for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON). Speaking at a press conference on Thursday, November 7, Coach Otto Addo confirmed that Jordan Ayew will take over as the team’s captain for the crucial games against Angola and Niger.The Leicester City forward will replace Mohammed Kudus, who served as captain during the October international break. Coach Otto Addo clarified that Mohammed Kudus and Alexander Djiku will now serve as the teams deputy captains, a decision the coach says was discussed directly with Kudus.I talked to [Mohammed] Kudus for him to understand that for me he just needs to learn and grow. I want him to remain the second captain alongside [Alexander] Djiku, but Jordan will take over from now, Coach Addo explained while announcing his 25-man squad for the upcoming matches against Angola on November 15 and Niger on November 18.With these changes, the Black Stars are gearing up for an important set of fixtures as they continue their pursuit of qualification for the 2025 AFCON tournament.
