Nations FC congratulate captain Razak Simpson for earning Black Stars call-up
Ghana Premier League side Nations FC have congratulated captain Razak Simpson for earning his maiden Black Stars call-up for the final two 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.The often-reliable and solid centre-back has featured in all nine of his club’s league matches this season, anchoring a backline that has helped Nations keep five clean sheets.His contributions have been instrumental in pushing Nations FC to second place in the league table.After the squad announcement by head coach Otto Addo on Thursday, Nations FC took to social media to say, “Congratulations to our captain Razak Simpson for earning his maiden call-up to the senior team, the Black Stars.”We are proud of this height and wish him the best of luck in the Black Stars.”Simpson will hope to make his debut in the in the two games.Ghana’s penultimate AFCON qualifier is set for Friday, November 15, 2024, in Luanda, Angola, at the Estdio 11 de Novembro. The Black Stars will then host Niger at the Accra Sports Stadium on Monday, November 18.Currently third in Group F with just two points from four matches, Ghana faces a tough path to qualification. The team is five points behind second-placed Sudan and 10 points behind leaders Angola.With qualification now out of Ghanas hands, the Black Stars must win both remaining matches and hope Sudan drops points to stay in contention. A draw for Sudan in their final games would end Ghanas hopes of reaching the AFCON for the first time in 20 years.
