The New Patriotic Party (NPP) Free Senior High School (FSHS) seems to be the game-changer going into the 2024 general elections.

This has become evident in the campaign tours of Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia who is the party’s flagbearer in the upcoming December 7 elections.

Almost every community or constituency he goes, people openly come forward to narrate how the Free SHS has come to save them the burden of paying school fees.

Latest is that of the Headmaster of Ada Senior High School, Thomas Raphel Vroof, who has praised the Akufo-Addo-Bawumia-led NPP administration for the intervention.

This was when the Vice President stopped over at the school during his campaign tour of the Ada, Sege and Ningo-Prampram constituencies.

Mr. Vroof said, “we wish to let him know that as a school we are so much grateful to the government for the Free SHS.”

“We are aware of the commitment of the government to feeding the students; feeding alone is very expensive. We receive food items almost on a weekly or two weeks basis”, he said to the cheers from the students who rushed out to catch a glimpse of the Vice President and exchange pleasantries with him.

He, however, seized the opportunity to make certain request to the Vice President.

This included an urgent need for the construction of a fence wall to protect students and staff on campus and a well-equipped science laboratory to encourage the study of science and technology in the school.

One issue that kept coming to Dr. Bawumia during his tour of coastal communities was tidal waves claiming lives and properties, with chiefs appealing for support.

Dr. Bawumia promised to construct a sea defense wall for the people of Ada and other coastal communities in the Greater Accra Region.

He stressed the need for a community like Sege to get a fishing harbour as well to help boost the fishing business in the area.

The Vice President assured the fisherfolks that he will resolve issues with the supply of premix fuel and promised to work on the road network in Sege and Ada constituencies.
