Al-Nassr sack Luis Castro as head coach

Saudi Arabian side, Al Nassr have sacked Luis Castro as their head coach after a year at the club.

His sacking is due to many underwhelming results that have seen them start the season on a poor note across all competitions.

In his 54-game stint at the Saudi, Castro was thrown under the carpet after failing to win any silverware and finishing second in the professional league.

Al Nassr have been undergoing talks to replace the Portuguese manager, and former AC Milan manager Stefano Pioli is set to take over at the helms.

Al Nassr tweeted on their official X account wishing Castro a farewell:

“Al Nassr can announce that Head Coach Luis Castro has left the Club.

“Everyone at Al Nassr would like to thank Luis and his staff for their dedicated work during the past 14 months, wish them the best of luck for the future.”

Pioli, the man reported to take over, won the 2021/22 Serie A campaign with AC Milan ending a decade drought of no league titles.
