FrontPage Africa learned that the children had previously met with Mr. Nyanquee and warned him about their demand for the 1.5 lots of land before allowing him to proceed with the wedding ceremony.
Sanniquellie, Nimba County – On Sunday, the children of 80-year-old Amos N. Nyanquee disrupted and stopped their father from marrying his longtime partner, Dorcas Norngon, in Sanniquellie, Nimba County. The couple, who had been together for 34 years, planned to get married at the First United Methodist Church in Sanniquellie.

However, the groom’s 11 children gathered in the Airfield Community and blocked their father from joining his bride, who was with her bridal party at a separate location. The children demanded that their father turn over ownership of 1.5 lots of land, arguing that the deed to the land belonged to their late mother, who died during the civil war.
FrontPage Africa learned that the children had previously met with Mr. Nyanquee and warned him about their demand for the 1.5 lots of land before allowing him to proceed with the wedding ceremony. Despite their warning, he refused to comply with their request.
Our Nimba County correspondent reported that following the incident, the wedding did not take place at the First United Methodist Church. However, the church was able to carry out their regular Sunday service.
This led the groom, who suffers from hypertension, to experience elevated blood pressure. He was subsequently hospitalized at G. W. Harley Hospital in Sanniquellie for medical treatment.
The incident on Sunday, July 28, 2024, marks the fifth wedding reportedly disrupted due to conflict in Sanniquellie and Ganta, respectively.
Few years ago, a wedding ceremony was disrupted at the Dominion Church in the Deakeamie Community in Ganta. Another disruption occurred at Winner’s Chapel International in Ganta when the wedding of Gonleee Mambiah, a former senior Commerce inspector for Nimba County and now a senior staff member at the Ministry of Commerce, was interrupted by his former partner, who entered the church during the ceremony.
