3 Charged Over Aisha Huang Galamsey Case
In a significant development, three individuals linked to the notorious Aisha Huang galamsey case have been formally charged with conspiracy, illegal mining, and immigration-related offenses.
The accused, Li Wei Guo, Shi Mei Zhi, and Nana Kwame Opoku, face charges under various sections of Ghana’s Criminal Offences Act and Minerals and Mining Act.

Charges and Court Proceedings
Li Wei Guo faces charges of false representation in obtaining a work permit. Shi Mei Zhi and Nana Kwame Opoku are accused of false representation in obtaining residence permits.
The third accused is charged with facilitating non-Ghanaians’ participation in illegal mining.
Court proceedings are ongoing, with the cross-examination of Shi Mei Zhi concluding on November 13 and Nana Kwame Opoku beginning his defense on November 14.
However, the charges bring hope that Ghana is taking concrete steps to address galamsey and immigration violations.
