2025 Africa Cup of Nations Qualifiers: Salis Samed to miss out on Sudan games due to injury

Ghanaian midfielder Abdul Salis Samed is set to miss Ghana’s pivotal 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Sudan due to a lingering muscle injury.Sunderland manager Regis Le Bris confirmed the player’s absence during a pre-game press conference ahead of their EFL Championship clash with Watford.Samed, who joined Sunderland on loan from RC Lens this summer, has yet to make his debut for the Black Cats due to the injury. Le Bris expressed caution about rushing the player back too soon, stating, “I dont know exactly when Salis will be available to play. He is feeling good but with the kind of injury he is coming back from, if he reaches a certain level of intensity then it could provoke another injury.”The midfielder’s absence will be a significant blow to Otto Addo’s Ghana squad, which has had a slow start to their qualifying campaign, drawing one and losing one match.Ghana must secure victories in their upcoming home and away fixtures against Kwesi Appiah-led Sudan to remain competitive in Group F. The games are scheduled for the 6th and 14th of this month.
