2025 AFCON Qualifies: Angola pressed well and made the game difficult for Black Stars â Otto Addo
Ghana head coach Otto Addo has admitted that his team struggled against Angola due to the relentless pressing from the Palancas Negras in their penultimate 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier.Addo acknowledged that the Angolans, with nothing to lose, effectively pinned the Black Stars in their own half, making it difficult for Ghana to assert themselves in the game. The match ended in a 1-1 draw at the 11th November Stadium in Luanda, confirming Ghanas failure to qualify for the tournament. They didnt have anything to lose today, you could see. They could play freely, while we were a little bit more under pressure, Otto Addo said after the game. They pressed us very well, held us down in our half, and it was difficult for us today. But we were missing our intensity, and I think it was not good enough from our side. The Black Stars needed a win against Angola, and also required a victory in their final game against Niger on Monday at the Accra Sports Stadium, following a shock 4-0 win for Niger over Sudan. With no chance of progress, the match against Niger now holds no significance for Ghana as they are bottom of Group F at the moment. This marks the first time in 21 years that Ghana will miss the Africa Cup of Nations.
