2025 AFCON Qualifiers: Rev Osei Kofi criticizes Kurt Okraku for missing Sudan v Ghana clash

GFA President, Kurt OkrakuFormer Ghana international, Rev. Osei Kofi has voiced his concerns regarding the absence of Ghana Football Association (GFA) President Kurt Okraku during the Black Stars’ recent away match against Sudan in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers. Before the first leg, Okraku urged the team to bounce back from their disappointing results, which included a 1-0 loss to Angola and a 1-1 draw with Niger in their initial matches. While he attended the Black Stars’ home game against Sudan at the Accra Sports Stadium, where the match ended in a goalless draw, he was noticeably absent for the return leg in Libya.Instead, Okraku was spotted in Germany, reportedly observing the Black Satellites as they prepared for the 2024 WAFU Zone B Championship. In an interview with Graphic Sports, Osei Kofi, a two-time AFCON champion, expressed his disappointment with Okrakus decision to prioritize other commitments over the national team.”The president of the football association was not present during Ghana’s match against Sudan. Instead, he chose to focus on his football business outside the Black Stars game, leaving the management of the Black Stars to others,” he stated.Osei Kofi advised Okraku to consider stepping down if he intends to pursue a career as a football agent.”If he wants to pursue a career as a football agent, he should resign from his position as the president of the association and dedicate himself fully to that path,” he suggested. As it stands, Ghana is in third place in Group F, with only two points from four matches. To maintain their chances of qualification, the Black Stars must secure victories against Angola and Niger in their upcoming matches next month, while also relying on Sudan to lose both of their remaining games.
