2025 AFCON Qualifiers: FC Lorient ace Nathaniel Adjei earns Ghana call up

Uk Base Soccer Agency Welcomes Nathaniel AdjeiFC Lorient defender Nathaniel Adjei has been named in Ghana squad ahead of the forthcoming 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.Adjei has been outstanding for the Orange lads since joining from Swedish outfit Hammarby in January.The Brittany-based paid 7.5 million to sign the guardsman and it has looked smart business from the off.The 22-year-olds superlative performances for FC Lorient have been awarded with a call up into the Black Stars ahead of the upcoming 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Angola and Niger.Adjei was handed a call up into the Ghana team for their two friendly clashes against Nigeria and Uganda in March.However, he had to withdraw from the squad after picking up an ankle knock.Adjei previously turned out for all the junior national teams but is now making the big leap into the senior squad.The versatile defender will now look to impress Otto Addo during his stay with the team in camp.Ghana will play host to Niger at the Accra Sports Stadium on November 18, 2024, after traveling to Luanda to play the Palancas Negras on November 15.The Black Stars, however, are in danger of missing out on the AFCON for the first time in 20 years as a result of their poor showing in the qualification round.With two losses and two draws after four games, Ghana has had a terrible AFCON qualifying campaign. Going into the last round of games this month, they are currently third in the standings after managing just two points.The Black Stars must now defeat Angola and Niger, who have already qualified, and hope that Sudan loses to these same opponents in order to maintain their hopes of making it to the tournament in Morocco next year.
