Uganda Crested Cranes head coach George William Lutalo has vowed to assemble a competitive team at the forthcoming 2022 Africa Women’s Cup of Nations (AWCON) tournament.
Despite a tricky draw that pitted Uganda against hosts Morocco, Burkina Faso and Senegal in group A, Lutalo says every game will be treated as a final.
“We have to represent our country well. The draw was made and the teams we shall face are good teams. But we shall be ready to face them,” Lutalo told CAF Online.
He added, “We shall have other tournaments like the CECAFA Women’s senior Championship which will help us improve the team and gain good momentum ahead of the competition in Morocco.”
Uganda Crested Cranes advanced to the continental showpiece after their opponents in the last qualification hurdle Kenya Starlets withdrew from the competition.
The Kampala Queens tactician maintains the Cranes have played several build-up matches and are not affected in any way despite not playing the final qualification game.
