Ham radio is often referred to as amateur radio and is a pastime that is enjoyed by millions of people around the world. An amateur radio operator uses a two-way radio broadcast with other amateurs for the purpose of entertainment, public service or other company.

The use of ham radio may actually help save lives as traders tend to support the local community with emergency communications and disaster. On a playground, amateur radio can help increase self awareness of an individual to electronics, radio operations and communications. In addition, ham radio is often used to showcase events for listeners and may even help start a new career for an amateur.

Ham radio was once confined to real radio, but the progression of the World Wide Web has changed the way people both hear and communicate over the radio. In fact, a number of radio stations that actively communicate with listeners online. This activity is paving the way for ham radio to reach a wide audience via the Internet. While some just use amateur radio as a way of talking with friends, meet new people who share common interests and debate the issues that are relevant to a specific idea, other regular amateur radio use to send and receive emergency notifications related with bad weather, emergencies, disaster relief and other forms of situations requiring quick action that are of interest to the public.

Like traditional radio, amateur radio equipment is often portable enough to accompany the operator during the holidays. In order to use the ham radio, individuals must have a license and can not successfully travel with the team. The only way an individual can obtain a license to operate ham radio is to successfully pass an examination, which is created to confirm the individual's knowledge and understanding of key concepts of radio. Unlike CB radio, broadcasting individuals in ham radio must have a valid license to do so.

The best way to learn about licensing ham radio operator to be passed by a local club and talk to the owner. He / she will be able to lead more hopeful operators in the right direction. Once approved, individuals additional information on regulations and standards surrounding the use of amateur radio and broadcasting. In addition, ham radio equipment will be made available to licensed amateurs and can be found in a variety of specialty shops on the internet.
