What are the different types of batteries?

Batteries are grouped in two ways. It is by application and by the construction process. The main type of battery application are the automotive, marine and deep cycle. While the type of construction are flooded, gel and AGM.

The types of deep cycle battery has a capacity to produce solar power backup. As a technical description ... Compared with the AGM battery has an electrolyte such hunger or mechanism dry. Most batteries are applying fiberglass mat with a high density compound of sulfuric acid, applying a "no excess liquid" compounds.

Construction of battery has a standard lid and removable. It is sometimes called as the maintenance-free battery. It also has a sealed valve regulated. The regulated pressure valve helps mild.

For a complete table of all battery types, see the link in the author's signature.

* What is a DC battery?

Direct current is a type of electricity supply. Using a DC battery, the electric charge moves in one direction. Can cause an imbalance of electrical charges.

The side of the DC battery is sealed with the electrolyte and various forms of metal. Electrolytes have a different form of electrons and positive charge.

The terminal of the battery has positive and negative. These poles are connected to each other. Current flows connecting the poles.

* What are sealed batteries?

Sealed batteries are not to be damaged and a maintenance-free battery. They have liquid, therefore there is no corrosion. A sealed battery has a characteristic of low self-discharge and cracking amperage.

A sealed battery is designed to provide both home and standby applications. It has a longer life and more relevant scheme. Most sealed batteries are used in order to have a higher "cost reduction" of the battery and minimize the cost to the user.

* What is a deep cycle battery?

A deep cycle battery is usually a plate of thick, heavy lead. This board helps support the battery charge deep. Can not do without a fast load compared to a starter battery. Can also be used to initiate combustion in engines. It's kind of battery with a longer life because of its thick plates.

* What is a starter battery?

A starting battery is designed for internal combustion engines to continue without interruption. It has many thin plates that allow you to generate a large amount of power very fast for only a small amount of time.

On the other hand, a starting battery can not stand being discharged depth. Most starter batteries can only support a full download minutes before bad.

* What is a pile of gel?

A gel battery is also called a gel cell. Has a number of silica gel that turns into a solid mass acids. The great advantage of these batteries is that it is feasible to leak acid even if broken.

This type of battery charges slowly. They can not cope with the standard car charger. The current flow is also limited. In addition, easily damaged.

* What is an AGM battery?

AGM means "absorbed glass mat." It is the newer type of sealed battery that is used between the plates. The plates are composed of a very thin fiber made of boron and silicon glass. This type of battery has the same characteristics as a type of gel, but may take longer to download.

That does not spill out even if it is broken. glass mats help keep the unity of the acids and electrolytes. It is also immune to damage because it does not spill liquid on the inner layer.
