The current state of e-mail

Today, email is such an integral part of our daily lives. So much so, that the idea of ??being without her is unthinkable. This is done nowhere else in the corporate environment. Despite the highly developed and widely disseminated e-mail compared to previous years, is still not without problems. Viruses and spam that the main concerns, but a question a little more likely that storage space. Users have returned to their mailboxes in electronic filing cabinets for which everything is stored away in folders sorted structures. Why do this? The obvious answer is "because it is easy." Police IT administrators is an obvious solution to the problem, but with the growing integration between the systems office, it may simply set in black and white guidelines on how and where the e-mails are stored and how time?

How can you combat these problems?

It is too easy for a user to scan read an e-mail to preview automatically, and then just know it will be archived there for when they need to cope adequately. The end result is a mail server mailboxes and stop the optimal size. IT administrators are limited by their tools to what they can do to solve these problems. The choices they face are:

1. Get user mailboxes manually pruning - no sure way to get this regularly, and users have difficulty distinguishing an email they need to avoid not

2. Use Auto archive - Some mail clients like Microsoft Outlook includes a "stock car" feature that stores old email messages in a local file, reducing the size of your mailbox "present." This new technology is relatively primitive moves the responsibility for e-mail file to the end user.

3. Use file an enterprise solution such as Symantec products Vault (formerly VERITAS Enterprise Vault). This solution is by far the most manageable and eliminates end-user responsibility for the IT team management.

Vault Symantec Products

Vault Symantec products provide a flexible framework for e-mail file, files, and web-based content. The products allow the discovery of content held within these formats, while helping to reduce storage costs and simplify data management. The powerful search and discovery capabilities are complemented by powerful client applications for corporate governance, risk management and legal protection. Some key features include:

1. Automatic content from the cradle to the grave of lifecycle management for email and other corporate data

2. Quick and easy search and retrieval of content allows end users to leverage organizational knowledge.

3. storage optimization reduces the storage of messages and information by 50 percent or more.

4. Ensures compliance with retention policies and the discovery by acting as a secure repository for electronic information.

5. Reduce the cost of content retrieval, retrieval and management.

6. Provides an "information repository" for corporate data that can be exploited as a source of knowledge using integrated technologies and the search index.

7. Seamless integration of email archiving with existing mail systems remaining transparent to the end user

What should I do now?

1. Decide what kind of solution e-mail archiving is right for your business

2. Understand what you are trying to make investing in an e-mail archiving solution

3. Consider how implementing an email archiving solution addresses affect your users and what changes have to do for them
