I'm sure you've heard through a friend before, even some of his friends with computer skills, but I warn you that this is a dangerous question to ask. You surely know about the virus and that today anyone is vulnerable to them if they have not taken appropriate measures to protect themselves, but other than that (if you're like most people do not really know what is out there (much more not only the virus) and how to really protect themselves properly. In the following paragraphs I want to tell you some critical information to save you a lot of time and money and tears.

So the virus is, like its biological counterpart, parasites in that they use a lot of the most important exist and to replicate. A virus is composed of computer code that is written in such a way as to be inserted into existing code (almost always) an executable file that already exists on the host computer. Internet is used mainly for travel, but can and has been moved by the forms of removable media such as floppy disks, smart cards, etc as viruses, worms use the computer as a host, but only to use the hardware, as they do not need the mainframe software to replicate. The Trojans are another example of malicious software or malware that try to evade natural defenses and built into a computer. The point is that there is something else that needs protection and virus that not all anti-virus software (especially free antivirus software) provide full coverage you need.

The sad thing is that free antivirus software lulls computer users become complacent and end up as bad or worse than when they were virus free. Companies offering these gifts are becoming more or less like a publicity stunt, bringing more traffic to your sales page.

Now there's a problem with this I would like to explain and that is that the free antivirus software is better than having nothing at all. So if you are too poor to buy their own set of security software by all means get in your computer. However, I have serious doubts that if you are able to buy a computer that would not be able to get anti-virus protection. Note that is just a cost of maintenance is needed, something like putting oil in your car from time to time.
