If you are looking to locate death records and do not know where to start, the Internet is probably your best bet. There are plenty of websites that will allow you to access the information you are looking for. The best way to find these sites is to write "death" in your favorite search engine. This will give you several options on where to find what you want.

The first thing you will notice results to get your return is that you can access death records through the health departments of most states. This is information that can be taken by the public. To access this information you must provide the site with some information. First you're probably going to have to register on the site. Many times also can be accessed only if you have a valid reason why you need to search for death records (newspapers, news, etc.) then many of the state health departments charge the user a small fee to access these records. The fee is usually no more than a few dollars and can be easily pay with credit card.

There are also several independent companies that maintain the death records in the file. These companies have access to this information the same way you would through state health departments. They contact all state health departments and get all the records in order to have a one-stop shop for anyone who needs this information. Some of these companies may include public and private hospitals, several companies that require the retention of health records.

Death certificates can be found on the Internet with relative ease. Just get started with a simple search and you'll be well on your way to get all the information you can imagine.
