I have a 26-inch LED television and its 100% operated by the power of sun, no electricity supply needed. It was introduced by Sharp in July, 2008 and its really great. Its a concept that has been raised just because now, energy crisis is the main problem the world is facing. In this phase if each and every appliances are made possible to be operated from solar energy and solar panel kits placed in every one's house for a power source and electricity that we are using be used only as an alternative then there might be a change. This might be a vast topic I'm discussing about but this is the most probable solution.
