I do not pretend to be a "techie" but I thought I would say a few words about how to update software. If you use software like Microsoft Office, on a regular basis, how often you upgrade to a newer version? That depends on several factors, such as support (current version is still supported by the software company?), Features and compatibility with other software on your computer.

I recently upgraded my version of Office XP to Office 2003. However, it took me long to decide to upgrade. The XP version had all the features I thought I needed. The programs - Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint, everything seemed to be working well, and XP was supported even by Microsoft. Well, being a business person in an administrative career, I have to constantly update my knowledge of software, which includes working with various office software applications. As I met online training classes for Word, Excel, etc, I began to realize that classes in the application of XP is no longer available. That's really what cinched for me. Since the update, I've also come to appreciate certain characteristics in each of the programs. I'm also learning Publisher, which comes with the updated version, and help me with desktop publishing projects for my clients.

The conclusion is that the current software programs that offer everything you need, there is no reason to upgrade to a newer version unless you just want. It's really a subjective preference, individual. That's my opinion on the software update!
