Promotional T-shirts have been part of trade promotion and marketing of the brands for a long time. DTG is widely believed that t-shirt printing is more environmentally friendly than screen printing. DTG uses water-based inks to print directly onto the clothing, this means no excess ink used in the actual printing and the only waste produced is cleaning the print head occasionally - it is worth noting that cleaning heads do not involve any external materials only ink. So long as the waste ink is disposed of correctly, printing tshirts using the DTG method should have virtually no impact environmenal. Screen printing however has excess inks parts of the template does not print the shirt and when the screens are cleaned these excess inks tend to be washed down the drain.
