Governor Bukola Saraki has approved a twenty percent increase in the salary of civil servants in Kwara State.   This raises the minimum wage in the state from N7500 to N9050.   According to the Head of Service (Kwara State), Alhaji Mohammed Dabarako, the state government will now pay N503 million monthly as salaries as against the N422 million previously.

The Chairman of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Emmanuel Ayeoribe has thanked the government for the development but demanded for another rise before the end of the tenure of Dr.   Bukola Saraki.

Also approved is the establishment of Kwara State Health Development Agency, which is expected to strengthen health care delivery and control proliferation of health centers in the State.

It is indeed a welcome development.  It is especially commendable that Dr.  Bukola Saraki ican get around to reviewing salaries, given the many capital projects, which the state has embarked upon, and the global recession.  Kudos!
